WOW:  Evangelism will be having its first WOW on Wednesday, March 28th weather permitting.  Please come out and help us serve our community with food, prayers when requested, and fun, to show the community our radical hospitality that New Vision is well known for.  The time is 4 -6 pm.  Hope to see you there.

THANK YOU!!    New Vision received a letter and a grant for $10,000 from the District for the Food Pantry.

UMCOR SUNDAY (Formerly One Great Hour of Sharing) is today, your gifts to the UMCOR Sunday offering lay the foundation for the United Methodist Committee on relief (UMCOR) to share God’s Love with communities everywhere.  Please give generously.

SAVE THE DATE!  The Ministerial Recruitment Institute, or MRI, is a weeklong spiritual retreat within the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church for youth ages 12-18.   This institute, held each summer since its inception in 1982, is the result of a vision from God through our late Bishop James S. Thomas.  Its goal: to create a space and an environment conducive to allowing young people to hear, question, consider, struggle, and respond to God’s call and claim on their lives to become true Christian disciples, leaders, ministers, pastors and evangelists.  With the aid of Christian adult mentors, teachers, pastors and other staff working with and residing on campus with the youth, MRI becomes a community of faith in a week’s time!  MRI is also a great form of evangelism for youth to be exposed to Christ and other young people who already know Him for themselves.  We live, sing, play, worship, study, pray, laugh and cry together that week, as we all are there to “leave each person, place and session better than we found them/it” under the divine hand of Almighty God.  This year’s MRI dates are: July 15-20, 2018.   The total cost for the week includes all meals, the banquet and dorm room is $180.  We are in the process of trying to raise scholarship funds for those who need it to be sure everyone who is interested can attend.  Please see Pastor Worthen or contact the office for applications.

MEMBERSHIP UPDATES:  Upon recently completing year-end reports we discovered that there have been youth who have been baptized but were not taken through Confirmation classes.   Infant baptism is a recognition that God has begun a good work in us from our birth, thus we commit to raising them in the faith.  However, confirmation is the time for youth to be indoctrinated and to profess their faith for themselves.  Infants are considered as members of the body of Christ upon their baptism, but they do not become full professing members of the church until they are confirmed. We have been reaching out to the parents of the youth of whom we’re aware were or are of age to be confirmed, however, we’re not sure if we have been able to identify everyone.  If you have a child or grandchild who was baptized as an infant and is old enough to be confirmed but have not received a call, please contact Pastor Worthen.  Thank you!

PREPARING FOR EASTER:  Enclosed in the bulletin is a brief survey to find out how many people are interested in attending Easter Sunrise Service.  We are soliciting volunteers to provide breakfast following the service, and we need a count for the meal.  There will also be an Easter program put on by the youth at 9am.  We are asking if at all possible, that those who attend the Sunrise Service stay also for the 10am service.  We don’t want to miss anyone at the regular 10am service as this is a time of celebration and fellowship for everyone together!  Please fill out the enclosed form and turn it in to an usher if you are able to attend both services, so we may plan accordingly.  Thank you!

CHURCH CONFERENCE:  This is a reminder that there will be a Church Conference on Sunday, March 11th immediately following worship.  This will be a time for updates as well as an opportunity to discuss and vote on the Pastor’s Compensation package.  If you have any questions, please see Ken Parker or any member of the Lead Team.

“LENTEN GLEANERS”– Don’t forget to get your Lenten gleaner to make your forty-day sacrifice of a quarter a day until Easter Sunday.  The money raised will be used to pay on apportionments.  Gleaners are available at the Usher’s station. Thanks

ALTAR FLOWERS:  There are still dates available in the months of April, May, June, July, August, October, and November to purchase Flowers to beautify the Altar. Heartfelt thanks from the Altar Guild for those of you who have signed to donate flowers for 2018.
