Week of 3/1/2020

Altar Flowers: Thank you to all who signed up to donate flowers for 2020. There are still dates available!

Join us for “A PERFECT LOVE” BIBLE STUDY this Lenten Season.  It will be offered on Thursdays at 11:30 am beginning March 5, 2020 and on Tuesday at 6 pm beginning March 10, 2020.  Please join us if you can.

Lenten Sacrificial offering: The Lenten season is here and we are asked to reflect on the sacrifice that Jesus made for our lives.  We are challenged to see what sacrifices we can make in honor of Jesus sacrifice for us.    We have all experienced the turmoil of the beginning of this year with personal loss, church and family loss, home expenditures and unexpected church expenditures, health challenges and other life changes.  How can you honor God?  Envelopes will be available through Lent for you to donate to our church to help with some of these issues.  We will have a major effort to help with the debt for the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning system (HVAC).  We also have to complete our lighting in some of our main areas.  Whatever is on your heart, please search yourself for what you can do to support our church at this time.  Thank you.

LEAD TEAM: The Lead Team Meeting is March 19 at 6 pm.

It’s a NEW VISION for our children and youth.   Our young people ages 3 to 18 and their parents are invited to be here on March 14th from 3-5 pm for food and fellowship. SAVE the DATE for the 2020 kickoff of our New Vision Children and Youth Ministry.

UMW:  The pledge cards for the UMW are located at the Welcome Center please pick one up.  Pledge cards may be returned to Helen Merritt or Geraldine Calmeise or at our next meeting March 14, 10 am.  There will be a continental breakfast and a guest speaker.  Please plan to attend.

Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning system (HVAC):  The Leadership Team has confirmed the contract with the Trane Company to purchase and install replacement equipment for our entire HVAC system.  The total cost is $87,834 over 5 years.  The first phase is our new 30 Ton Air handler unit and our new system controls.  This will be completed within the next 5 weeks.  We also have a maintenance agreement for 5 years on the equipment. We looked at temporary heating solutions and they are very costly.  We appreciate everyone’s support in managing upstairs temporarily.  We will do everything we can to improve on the schedule.  We had to take out a $30,000 loan to make the down payment and we would like to pay this down as quickly as possible.  We will have monthly payments to pay the balance of the equipment.    Many people have asked how to support this effort.  The time is now.  Please designate your contribution for the HVAC system on your envelope.  We thank those who have already contributed. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask Ron Coleman, Kathye Lewis Norman or Ken Parker.

The Women of Vision will meet Saturday, March 7, at 1:00 p.m. Sis. Collette Morgan will present on “The Miracles of Jesus.”  Read over some of His miracles and join us in this exciting service expecting a miracle to happen for you.  Also, the Retreat Committee will meet immediately following at 3:15 p.m.  Please plan to attend.  All women are welcome.

The CEG annual GALA will be held on June 26, 2020 at the Sharonville Convention Center.  There will be information available at the Welcome Center desk.  The Keynote speaker will be Dr. Deforest B. Soaries, Jr., Pastor of First Baptist Church of Lincoln Gardens, Somerset, NJ.  More information will be upcoming.

FOOD PANTRY:   Donations for the month of February Jell-O and chicken Vienna sausages.

A Lifetime of Giving

What will your obituary read?  Will people be able to say that you gave to help others?  With so many deaths surrounding us, sometimes you find yourself reflecting on what you have done in life.  God encourages us to give, in His word and He prescribes how to give to his church. We are to make sure we handle our gifts following His word.  Our tithe of 10% is a baseline and our gifts over and above are our blessings overflowing. Leaving a legacy is also important.  Many people include the church in their legacy gifts.  This is a time of awakening.  We all have much to be thankful for and we also have much to give.  If we keep love first in our hearts, giving will be our best reward
