Week of 1/28/2018

If you should ever find yourself in a situation where you know that you are about to fall down, there is something that you can do to help yourself… Also, those who attend the Upper Room Class have been inspired with our research and discussion the THE LIFE OF JESUS CHRIST.  Please join us this coming Sunday morning at 9 am as we continue our study and also discover a few tips for safe and healthy living.

Aligning Ourselves with God’s Will:  New Vision will usher in Lent with an Ash Wednesday service February 14, at 5:30 pm.   Eat all you can through on that Tuesday, as Lent is a time for fasting!  During this time we devote ourselves even more in prayer and meditation on God’s Word so we can seek the strength of the Holy Spirit to remain steadfast.  The entire New Vision congregation is invited to a join in a Corporate fast as we seek God’s voice and direction for our ministry.   You are invited to fast however you choose:  i.e. giving up sweets, salt, fried foods, Daniel’s fast, television, etc.  We solicit your prayers for the church and leadership as we look hopefully forward to meeting our breakthrough goals of worship and discipleship over the coming year and living into God’s purpose for us individually and collectively.

WIDOW’S MITEThanks to all who donated to The Widow’s Mite Fund as of today we have collected $750.23.

WITH HEARTFELT APPRECIATION:  I would like to thank everyone again for your prayers, cards, gifts and encouraging words over the holiday season.  Gifts, words and actions show the kindness and heart of the giver, and many of you have shared yours with me and my family, and we thank you.  May God continue to bless all of you and multiply your kindness in return.  With much love, Pastor

STARTING THE NEW YEAR RIGHT:  Starting February 11, the Sunday morning Bible Study following worship will be beginning a new topic-driven Bible Study.  It will be based on the book:  When GOD Comes to Church by Steve Gaines. Now is a perfect time to join, as we are accepting orders for this book and are excited about this new study.  Won’t you join us?  If you would like to order this book, please contact Vanessa Bossard or the Church Office.   For those who have ordered books, Sister Vanessa will be collecting payments today through next Sunday, January 28.  Note:  Due to conflicts, there will be no Sunday morning Bible Study following service for the next two Sundays, as we resume Sunday, February 11th following service.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ON MAILING ADDRESSES:  Please remember to update your mailing address in the office if your address has changed in the last year.  We will be mailing out yearend financial statements and we want to make sure you receive them without delay.  You can call the office at 513-961-4817 or email to  Thank you.  The Finance Team

IMPORTANT MEETING ON THE CHURCH FINANCES:   Please plan to stay after the church service on Sunday, January 28, to participate in an open discussion about the church finances.  We want to hear your ideas about using the properties on site, the parsonage, and to hear your ideas on increasing giving

from our members.  We will share with you our current status and answer your questions.  The Finance Team will be on hand to help you understand what is going on in New Vision.  This meeting will be open to members only so please plan accordingly.  Thanks in advance for your support.  Acts 6:4 says that “We will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”  Please stay prayerful for our future.   The Finance Team

Know Your NumbersFriday, February 2, 2018, is National Wear Red Day to increase women’s awareness and critical research to discover scientific knowledge about cardiovascular health.  Go Red For Women is a movement that starts with you. Lead by example and make the time to “Know Your Numbers.” It’s knowledge that could save your life.  Five numbers, that all women should know to take control of their heart health are: Total Cholesterol, HDL (good) Cholesterol, Blood Pressure, Blood Sugar and Body Mass Index (BMI). Knowing these numbers can help women and their healthcare provider determine their risk for developing cardiovascular diseases. It’s time for all women to learn the most critical numbers in their life — their hearts depend on it. (  Let’s wear red on Sunday, February 4 to support National Wear Red Day.

Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of blacks in U.S. history. The event grew out of “Negro History Week,” the brainchild of noted historian Carter G. Woodson and other prominent African Americans. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month. Other countries around the world, including Canada and the United Kingdom, also devote a month to celebrating black history. (http://www.history.comLet’s wear our African clothing February 11, 18, and 25 to celebrate Black History Month.
